Analysis of costumes in a teaser trailer: The Piano

This is a film which is also set in the 19th century, so I am looking at the costumes. This knowledge will help when making my teaser trailer, meaning that my group and I have a better understanding of what to hire.

The females in this trailer wear hats tied with a bow, dresses with frilly collars, and the shade of black appears to be popular within that era. Nevertheless when not in black the young girl whears a white dress with frills. The women wear sleevless dresses when they are at special events.In terms of hair it is not lose and is plaited into ringlets at either side of the head.

The males who are rowing the boat are of a different culture, so they are showing their bodies. The other men (who would be upper class) wear top hats, bow ties and suits. Another male wears a bowler hat, lose fitting jacket and checked shirt.
